I have no reason to xmit outside of the ham bands, >nor do I have the capability, but I thought that having a broad-banded antenna >would be good for receiving outside 2m and 440. A broad flat SWR curve is indicative of poor efficiency in the antenna. The curve is flat because the loss resistance dominates the feedpoint impedance. I've had many models. Some dont like the battery connectors (plasic rails) but I had no problems with it. You can mod it for 800rx and it is very sensitive there, unlike the 530. --- ------------------------------------------------------------ Bob Levine KD1GG 7J1AIS VK2GYN formerly KA1JFP levine@mc.com <--Internet email Phone(508) 256-1300 x247 kd1gg@wa1phy.ma <--Packet Mail FAX(508) 256-3599 ------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 30 Sep 1994 13:52:37 GMT From: lll-winken.llnl.gov!taco.cc.ncsu.edu!gatech!wa4mei!ke4zv!gary@ames.arpa Subject: MOD For HTX-202 TX/RX Freq. Open the case, prize out all those nice narrow filters, high intercept amplifiers, and other misc circuitry that prevent signals outside the ham band from getting into this fine radio and messing up it's excellent strong out of band signal rejection, and replace them with the guts from a PRO 2006. Your HT will now howl as badly as any other scanner. In other words, this HT was designed for amateur radio, not as a voyeur's scanner. There are no modifications that will convert it to a wideband scanner which will also allow it to continue to function as an amateur radio. If you want a scanner, *buy* a scanner. Don't try to destroy the very advantage this HT has over all the others on the market.
